Quanta bars!!!!!!!!!

I was told there was An issue with gaskets and they are now expecting July for release of the new quanta bars

Thanks

I have not seen anything said from Luca since his May pre-order June delivery post.

Mine are mounted about 10" from the water. Also, xho's have very low output, so they don't add any significant amount of par, they're merely for show/pop.
I ran 4 over my tank, 2 actinic and 2 50/50, and had plenty of par for a mixed reef. 150 par mounted 11” above water and 16” below water line. So I wouldn’t say they are low output. I do agree lack of spectrum makes them more for pop/colors though. But I did see decent growth with my time using them.
They work, but for the money and what little you get out of them, it's simply not worth the money. I love my RB halide pendants, they're great, but the LEDs are basic run of the mill diodes and enclosures are not top quality.
I'm not sure if it's the output, spectrum or a combination of both, but when I swapped out my XHOs for Quanta Pro Meso Blues my two-part consumption went up by 4X.

Agree on XHOs not worth the money.

As long as you kept the same par reading or close to after the switch, I'd be willing to bet its the spectrum. I firmly believe a wider spectrum is why T5 and metal halide lights seem to grow corals better than LED. To me this is evident in why certain LED lights become to go to in certain cases. Take Orphek lights, they are super powerful, but they have diodes that cover pretty much the entire spectrum. From what I have observed, users of Orpheks tend to have fast growth in their tank. I think Kessil lights also have a good wide spectrum, however, due to their power levels and spread, I think they tend to be dismissed a bit more. But in cases where the user has many Kessils for spread and par, I see evidence of increased growth also. Due to observations like these, I will advocate for spread/spectrum being one of the most important things you can provide for your tank.

PAR is definitely a factor as well. My fixture is two T5s (Reef Brite 50/50 and Actinic) and the two Quantas. My dosing is currently up to 45ml/day.

Here's a post with more detail on what happened when I made the switch:

So far, so good with the Quantas. They actually added a nice bit of shimmer, which I was not expecting. They also had quite the effect on my tank, my nutrient consumption has gone way up. The Quantas have a lot more output than the XHOs did. Spectrum probably also plays a part as well. A week or so after installing the Quantas, my parameters ended up bottoming out at:

Alkalinity: ~5 dKH from ~7dKH
Ca: ~370 ppm from ~ 420 ppm
PO4: ~0.1 ppm from ~0.3 ppm
NO3: 0 ppm from ~ 5 ppm

With the XHOs I was ramping, the Quantas have no ramp, but I kept my light period the same at 16hrs. Instead of ramping, I just had one Quanta on at a time when I would have had my XHOs ramping. Due to mounting, the Quantas also sit ~1 inch lower than my XHOs did. I ended up reducing my lighting period from 16hrs to 12hrs.

When I installed the Quantas, I also notice that the tank got a bit hazy for several days. I wasn't sure what it was or what was going on at the time, so I just installed some carbon. Looking back, I'm assuming that may have been a bacterial bloom?

Today my two-part consumption is ~38ml/day (1.7 dKH/day). Before the Quantas it was ~13ml/day (0.6 dKH/day).

After all this I decide to break out the Seneye and measure PAR. With the XHO's it was ~130 on the sand bed, now its ~180! With my had under the Quantas, I can definitely feel the warmth of them. I did not notice that with the XHOs. My light setup is the two bars and two T5's.

This whole time nothing really acted negatively in the tank. My Ricordea shrunk a little bit, and I had a Dino outbreak. Which I am still recovering from, but it's under control. I have Goniopora, Galaxia, Cyphastrea, Digitata, Setosa, Chalice and Favia.

My pH is also up from what it had been tracking. Here's a graph showing that. The spikes are just when soda ash is being dosed. I have an AIO and dose into the same chamber as the pH probe.

That's the Helix Meso Blue spectrum.

And the Reef Crest Daylight.

He went into some detail on the new "quad core" setup (4 colors under each reflector), power output and the 0-10v dimming in the videos too.

The pic of the Atlas with all the diode on was pretty cool. I'll be combining the Atlas with some Helix MB's.

just ordered a 36" quanta meso blue. Love that it is American made and reviews here. I'll update you all with pictures.

Please give updates on how it ships, give a review of setup from cutting the box to in operation on your tank. rough time, and how you have mounted them! With the new gen out really thinking about getting a meso blue and reef crest for my frag tank for some more even par. 1 g3 xr30 can give me like 400 par in the middle and only 75 on the side with very dramatic stair steps the farther you go out. but two 36in bars I think would do wonders.

i certainly will!!

Lol

Every led light you will ever see is made in china.

Maybe - but it shouldn’t be that way. I understand that it is cheaper to produce there but I genuinely have a great amount of contempt for that country’s leadership and business practices.

I should disclose that this in no way reflects any type of racism or discrimination

Love anything made in Italy and Germany in this hobby. They go above and beyond to produce high quality products.
