Well I have decided to set up a standard lowboy 48x24x10 tank to continue to grow out my torch collection. My other tanks are running a combo Kessil ap700/ T5 hybrid and even added a couple 36” Reefbrite XHO for extra pop. After much reading and reviews I’m going to give the Quanta pros a shot as the SOLE lighting for this lowboy. I have ordered 1- Meso Blue and 1- OG pop. Could not decide on the exact strip color between the two (Meso/OG) so I got one of each. Once I have them up I will decide what color I like more and then maybe get a 3rd strip to keep a 2/1 bulb combo over the lowboy. I keep a lot of holy grails and bright torches and find they LOVE to be blasted with high par so that’s reason for trying the quantas. Any recommendations on what height to mount them? Any other reviews on them from fellow reefers? Thanks will report back once they are up and running. I’m exited to see the hype of the Qunatas!

Can you get a hold of a par meter? If so that would greatly help you in dialing in the par as your current tank. Good luck

Thanks Farmer, you posted the review in YouTube of these lights? If yes that sealed the deal for me to try them out. So far Luca has great service and answers all questions on email. Can’t wait to give them a shot and ditch my t5 hybrids

If you need mounts for those LEDS, I make them...

check out this build thread of @minus9. I made his a set for his 8020 frame setup. came out pretty sweet..

Since the bars don't have any dimming, all you can really do to control PAR is to raise or lower them. So mounting height will solely depend on how much PAR you're looking for. I have a feeling that three strips on that tank, mounted at a "normal" height of 8-10" is going to put you in SPS level PAR territory, though.

I really, really wish the bars had some sort of dimming and/or some sort of control more than on/off.

What is the listed output on the driver?.. Voltage range and mA's

gotta leave some features out, so the next generation can have them built in....

Orphek was going to "upgrade" their bars for years..
the way things are going in china, it will be a long time till they get things going again...

The US manufacturers need to fill a gap in technology as far as LEDS are concerned. There is a demand for such lights and we only rely on imported LEDS for now... hopefully that will change.

Thanks for the feedback what I’ll probably do is start them out more like 16-18 inches above The lowboy to acclimate my torches. The way I am mounting them it will be easy to adjust the height as a par increase is needed. I’m excited to try this combination out and see what kinda color and growth and most importantly response I see from the corals.

Any update on the bars?

I just got my first two bars in yesterday (will be adding at least one more reefcrest later), meso blue+reefcrest daylight. Got home late so only had time to get the meso up last night, pic below. I need to mod the bracket a tad for the reefcrest so i can angle it, but should have it up tonight.

Tank is only 2 months old so no coral yet. The spread/output is ridiculous honestly, even from just the one bar at 8 inches. Tank is 30" deep.

Amazing bars I got the Messo Blue and OG pop. Love the color and the pop of my corals. Definitely recommend them. I run some t5 during the day and the bars are so bright you can hardly tell the t5 is on. Also the Reefbrites I have in my other tanks give a very muted shade of blue where the quanta bars just look amazing
10/10 looks
10/10 par
10/10 Color
10/10 price
20/10 build quality is amazing

Very niiiice…. I bet that combo rocks!

I have a pair of Meso blues, and was debating on going with all quanta because radions / mobius is glitchy & a pita! I ordered a rb photon v2 though… maybe the combo will work well…

How much shimmer do you get? The old T5 on my 120 is going and I was considering getting an Aquatic Life dimmable hybrid and putting one or two of the Quanta strips in the middle. I’m trying to figure out how much PAR they will put out and whether that will actually be too much. I can always dim the T5s to adjust, though.
