I am getting 2 fish - Lawnmower blenny & Sailfin Tang - from my LFS. They are in the same tank/water at the store. Since they share the same water, why can't I QT them together?

Good idea, yes a firefish is on my list. I have located one at another LFS, but since it will be from a different tank/water I don't think it a good idea to QT with the Blenny & Sailfish who both are in another tank/water? Or would that make a difference? BTW my DT is 105 gal & sump 35 gal.Actually I believe you should QT the fish that go for same food source together. Like tangs and blennies both like to graze on rocks. Some blennies also like to chase firefish. If firefish are on your fish list then it's time to get one and QT them together if QT tank size is big enough.

I think it will depend on how large your QT is and how many hiding places you have for them. Personally I QTed ALL of my fish at once in a 70-80 gallon tank because I had to pull them from an infected display for a fallow period. 5 different tangs, 1 Foxface, 2 Chromis, 6 PJs... Lost 1 long time clown fish, and the 2 gobies that brought in the also died.
