Hey all - I've got the quarantine threads all loaded up and I've been doing my research on what the most common methods are for new fish. My question is about adding the first fish to a new large tank:
I'm setting up a new 200g. I have a well-established biocube 29 with a few small fish and a ton of coral. I was planning on using the 29g as my quarantine eventually...but I don't know what to do with the first batch of fish I get for the 200g.
I don't want to move all of the corals over right away as I want to get things kind of into a rhythm on the new tank first. But, if I put the first few new fish into the 200g then I have to not treat with anything and just hope for the best before I move more in.
The other option is to go ahead and just move everything into the new tank and then use the bc29 as a quarantine right away for the new fish. Most of the corals are LPS and fairly hardy, so I guess if my levels are good in the 200g then it should be OK.
If I do that - do I need to drain and clean the BC29 or can I just go for it? I havent had any fish issues with disease etc. in over a year of having the tank set up so I think it's fairly clean.
