Hello all,
I am currently at my second step of quarantine which is copper. This is my first time using copper and am pretty nervous due to reading mixed things. I currently have a PBrT and Hippo Tang in the QT tank that will be going through this treatment. I am going to be using copper power, I understand that I need to slowly rise the copper over a few day period until it’s at therapeutic level.
Has anybody had any experience QT this fish with copper power? Also I do only have 1 QT tank, and only planned on doing the 14-16 days and then putting him into the DT and observe.
Any comments, questions, concerns, advice will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

I used it to qt all my incoming fish. They handle it just fine with no issues. I would suggest getting the hana high range copper test kit. Its digital making the readings much easier.
Also make sure to keep a close eye on ammonia (ammonia badge works well with copper).
water changes are your best bet. just make sure your new water has the same copper concentration before you do the water change this way the concentration stays constant the whole time.
I get it up to 2.25 and maintain that for about 16 days and then transfer to a brand new qt and observe for another 2-4 weeks.

I had to go fallow for velvet and treat all my fish (including a hippo tang, yellow Cori's wrasse, melanarus wrasse, and carpenter's wrasse) with copper. I went with coppersafe. I accidentally dosed too much the first day and shot up from 0 to 1.46 on a Hanna checker and all the fish were fine. In fact, they look like they've grown so much in the last few weeks. Maybe it's because they're not burning any energy fighting off infection. I completed copper and am going to go on to prazipro next.
