so, I had ich happen in my 25g quarantine tank. I have removed the fish and they are currently undergoing TTM in two other smaller tanks. My question is how can I remove ich from my fishless 25g quarantine tank without draining it and starting over or waiting 76 days. It was nicely cycled and I would rather not start it all over again. There is no livestock in the tank. Will it be ok if I just treat the tank with a heavy dose of copper since there are no fish in it? That should eradicate it, right? I'd like to place the fish back into it after they complete TTM 2 weeks from now. Any suggestions?

Dosing copper for 30 days should work. However, if your fish have a strain of ich which takes longer than 30 days for all the theronts to be released from their tomonts - then they will just be reinfected once placed back in the QT. A heavy dose of copper won't eradicate the free swimmers any faster than a normal therapeutic one.

My suggestion would be to sterilize the QT by dosing chlorine (60 mg/L) and then after a few days dose some Stability to reseed the bacteria population.

Ok, thanks, wow, never thought I'd be dosing chlorine in a tank. Perhaps I'll just drain, dry and restart. Might just be easier and safer.

Chlorine will fully evaporate after 2-3 days. This is how I sterilize my QTs in-between batches of fish. Buy a chlorine test kit to be sure before dosing bacteria/adding fish back.

Just to be clear- I add the same chlorine as for a swimming pool? And how much to dose? And do they make a chlorine test for saltwater- all I'm seeing is for freshwater. Thanks- sorry if these are basic question. I've shocked my pool many times, but never my tank. lol

If there's any way you can post product links, that would be really helpful. Thanks again.

IME 24hr maximum. With skimmer running even less

I use pool chlorine (w/ no stabilizer) and you can also buy a Free Chlorine test kit at most pool places. Like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Industrial-Test-Systems-481026-Chlorine/dp/B0026DURIO

Dosage is 60 mg/L using a digital scale (I use this one); obviously you need to use chlorine granules so you can measure it. ;)
