Hi

I am doing the first formal quarantine using Chloroquine Phosphate for external and General Care for internal. I also added Safety Drop method for 30 minutes each drop before the quarantine. Only 1 fish is being quarantined since this is the first time I am using this method. So far, it's going ok and the fish is growing ( 15 days so far ).

Need some suggestions : if I continue to quarantine other fishes in the next 6 months, do you recommend I change most of the water ( 90% ) after each batch , or I would just do regular water change ( 10-20% ) , add back the right portion of Chloroquine Phosphate?

Essentially, would Chloroquine Phosphate be diluted more and more with water loss and the top-off, so once a while I should just restart the water?

Chloroquine phosphate doesn’t get diluted with top off. Just like salt, it gets more concentrated when water evaporates and when you add fresh water, it reduces to original level. As long as you are dosing the new saltwater for water changes with CP, it should remain steady.

That said, I believe it breaks down over a long time. I’d restart with new water between groups of fish. If nothing else, this insures your dosed CP is correct again and hasn’t swung too low or too high through the previous treatment.
