Good Morning R2R,
I was wondering how many green Chromis can I QT at once in a 29 gallon Aqueon? I will be placing a marine pure block in there along with pvc. The block has been sitting in my 2 year old 150 for 3 months. I don't care about the block being exposed to copper. or Prazipro
Thanks for your help.

Depends on the size of the Chromis. Might have to give a good rinse with tank water to remove any detritus build up on those blocks.
I have successfully qt 7 Chromis between 0.5-1 inch on a 10 gallon with cycled sponge from my Display tank with no problems.

I'd say several, depending on size 10-20. Just watch for ammonia and do the required water changes.

Check how long takes to rid of 2ppm ammonia. If less than 24 hours. Id aim for whatever number you are trying to add to your display at once. The more there is the less chance they will pick each other off. Ime aggression kills faster than overstocking.

I am going to QT 15-18 Chromis 1 inch in size.

They 1-2 inches. I hope the Marine Pure block that has been sitting in my 150 for 3 months is enough I will be checking ammonia though.

You should be ok, i would have 30 gallons of nsw made up for the first week as bacteria populations catch up.
Id start with metro first to combat uronema and brook. And see how the biofilter holds up before starting copper. Then after you know the biofilter is stable increase copper over 5-7 days but that might be me lol.

So don't start with PraziPro? Can you send a link to Metro? Thanks.

Prazipro can interfere with o2 id be hesitant to start when adding that many fish at once.
And copper because can kill bacteria.

One scoop per 10 gallons every other day for 10 days.

with gc you will still need metroplex as well.

If you dose gc to combat brook or ureomea you will over dose praziquantel and it does not treat either.

So would need to dose, on a schedule.

day 1 gc
Day 3 metro
Day 5 metro
Day 7 gc
Day 9 metro.

also do not mix gc with food, as humblefish recently posted that praziquantel can irritate the intestine causing more damage than not using. As the fish will not get required nutrients. But metro can be mixed with food.

also make sure tank is aerated, with any form of prazi, as it does deplete oxygen, even in the smaller quantity in gc.

Oh wait. I thought GC goes directly in water.

Can I just mix both in water on the perspective day?
You can dose General cure every 48hrs directly into water column.

GC contain Metroplex so no need to dose It separately. Also you will not be over dosing Prazi if dosing GC every 2 days. As both (prazi and metro) leave the water column in 48hrs or less.

The overdose has to with treatment timeframes. Metro should be dosed every 2 days. Praziquantel 2 doses 7 days apart.
Also not entirely true it completely dissipates after 48 hours. Its longevity in a system comes down to the bacteria in the water.
In a sterile tank praziquantel showed no degradation after 15 days.
In a quarantine tank, given its sterile nature, it would be safe to assume that some is surviving past the 48 hour mark, also there is no way to test. So no way of knowing how much of a water change is needed, to safely administer if dosed every second day.

Last time I used a Marinepure plate in my QT dosed with copper, the plate developed a slimy green mess on all sides. Which created a bacterial bloom in the QT from the die off within the plate. Lost some fish. Not good.

Best of luck ;)
