Hey guys,

I’m setting up my quarantine tank before I get any fish and I currently have an aqua clear bio filter and an air stone. Is this enough flow or do I need a power head as well? Also, what is the best way to qt the fish without stressing them too much? This is my first saltwater tank and I don’t want to stress the fish too much. Should I add sand and rock to the tank as well or leave it bare?

Leave it bare. Sand and rock will absorb any medication you might need to use. Some pvc pipes will do for them to hide in.

Is that enough flow for a 10g qt tank? I won’t have any coral or inverts, just fish

I have a similar setup. Running a 20G QT with Aquaclear HOB. the only thing I leave in the media basket is a foam block. Figure it helps to house the bacteria since the tank is bare. I leave about 1-2” of height from where water flows out of filter to water surface so I get good surface action and aeration in the aquarium. No need for more aeration. Couple of different size PVC tee pipes for refuge, an ammonia badge, and good to go.
