Hello,

I am working on getting the supplies to set up a FOWLR tank with the plan of introducing corals in about 9 months to 1 year. Currently I am planning on using a 40B as my main tank. I have a 29L and a 20g to serve as a sump and quarantine tanks. I am wondering if it would be "safe" to plumb them all together, so the MT drains into the QT, and is then pumped into the sump and then back to the MT. Is there risk of back contamination? Thanks for your feedback!

P.S.
Wasn't sure what forum to put this in.

I wouldn't suggest it most medications for fish will kill corals and invertes.

Just use the 29 gl that's more than adequate for filtration and a refugium compartment if u plan on one.as far as acclimation goes best to have one that will hang in the display tank so that fish can get used to one another visually.

I don't think that will work. Your going to have a 3rd tank, but it wouldn't be considered QT. @NHreefguy on his 40b setup. Pretty sure he is using 29L for a sump.

I would just take the 20G and use it as a separate QT tank. It doesn't need to be anything fancy. Small heater, hang on filter/canister, and a piece of live rock.

Thank you for the advice!
