Quarantine tank ammonia badge

Hello r2r I've been in hobby for a few years and I've been lucky when it comes to qt and fish. Tanks have another story I've went from a 30 breeder with a day 30 breeder sump all the way up to a 220 which I have had nothing but failure now I am running a 55 gal 36x18x24 with my original diy 30 breeder sump. Corals are great. Fish on other hand are none. I had a bad ick attack from not qting in the past. Recently set up this qt been running for 2 weeks with a seeded sponge in a hob filter for a 60 gal aquarium and a 30 gal sponge filter not seeded used dt water to start. The tank is a 30 breeder 36x18x12 Ammonia badge is still reading .02 alert does this look sufficient for a good qt

Ammonia badge finally went to safe. Any suggestions on this QT build?

Looks pretty good to me. I would remove all PVC except the fittings that are suitable sized for the fishes you'll be keeping. Anything else collects detritus/uneaten food.

Be careful using DT tank water. It really will not "seed" anything (the water itself is different from seeding filters media in your DT), and can transfer ailments from your DT to new QT. New saltwater that's allowed to mix for ~24 hrs is generally a safer option.

EDIT: IMO the badge shows high ammonia in your initial picture. You mentioned it's yellow now which should be fine, but I still double check with a basic liquid ammonia test. The badge is for a quick glance to ensure levels aren't climbing, IMO.

Ty yeah I will be checking ammonia and nitrite and nitrate this weekend fish are coming in to Lfs next week 2 firefish and a midas Blenny. I'll pull a few of the fittings. Should I leave smaller or larger fittings for these type of fish? And thanks. I was worried about QT I don't wanna stress them out any more than they are already just trying to give all hiding places I can

I used a large pice of filter floss and seeded the tank with bio-spira for a couple days before the fish went in. It help keep the NH3 down and only had 1 little spike for a day. 9 fish been in my hosptial 37gal tank for 78 days. all are happy and fat. I used cupramine to kill off the ich. worked great at 0.40 mg/l.

Thanks for the input my display is looking good. Only 5 more days till 76 from the day I took all fish out of system. Unfortunately I am not able to get the fish I want to put in qt for another couple of weeks local suppliers have been unable to get ahold of them. Go figure I pick a normally readily available fish and they are no where to be found. All I really want are red firefish lol. Err oh well qt will have a Lil more time to settle I drop a small amount of reef frenzy mysis mix in every other day just to feed bacteria. It's a small squirt of what I feed my corals and anemones. All goes well in a handful of weeks I will have a few firefish.
