Quarantine tank with tap water

Anyone set up their quarantine tank with tap water and dechlorinator? How is it working out for you?

When you move fish from quarantine to display tank, do you acclimate before you move the fish?

Ive never tried it. I suppose lots of algae may grow which is a good thing.

Since it's a quarantine I wouldn't use too much light or no light at all so maybe not much algae? Not too concerned about algae. I'm more concerned if the tap water would add to the stress to the fish / invertebrate

Definitely dont use tap water for inverts, they dont like heavy metals.

Algae ia good for fish because it cleans the water as it grows

Yes, you can do it. My LFS didn't even have an RO/DI when I started. I specifically remember them getting them in. All we had was tap. My seahorses, coral and all my inverts lived in tap. My QTs and treatment tanks were tap.

I always use tap water to in my fish quarantine tank. Use Prime too.

I think tap water would be fine in many cases, and over the time of the QT, I'd be changing its properties to close enough to the main tank (salinity and temp) that no acclimation is needed.

However, I use old tank water, diluted with RO/DI, if needed, to match the salinity that the creatures come in.
