Really up to you. Most people choose clownfish or chromis because they are inexpensive. I started with 2 red fire fish, 1 helfrichi firefish, 1 royal gramma and 1 clownfish. I have a 150 gallon

lid or no lid, fish get chased and carpet surfing happens...a few big fish or loads of small ones? I love humu humus myself, just never gonna keep them as I prefer reefs and they need big tanks.

Hello! Welcome. I’m new too, I started with a couple of Clownfishes (Orange and Black) but they are territorial fish, if you in a future will decide place more clownfishes it’s probably the first couple will be aggressive with the new ones, (iI tell you this because there are a great variety of clownfishes) many people recommend place all kind of clownfishes you want at the same time, clownfishes are inexpensive options, and they are hardy fishes, keep in mind if your tank doesn’t have lid some kind of fishes could jump out of your tank (i.e firefish)
