Eyes guys I need to know the best and the most effective way to make a quarantine tank. I have a standard 29 gallon tank. So it is not drilled. I need help because I'm tired of my fish catching diseases from my main tank. I had marine velvet 3 to 4 weeks ago. I had moved everything to the 29 gallon as far as rock and coral but no fish. I bought fish put in the 29 and everything was great. Then I had a tank leak so I had to move everything from the 29 to the 75gal tank. Now my clown fish is covered in it and same with my firefish goby. So I need to know the best way to take care of this so I avoid this all together. Thanks!

I've got the same tank for my QT. I have a dual bio-wheel HOB filter. About once a month I put in the filter cartridges to polish the water...leave them in for about a week. Also do 5g water changes about every other day. I put 5 or 6 pieces of pvc pipes of different sizes also.

Awesome. Should I try and get all my fish out of the 75 and put them in the quarantine tank?

How many fish do you have? Right now I've got 4 chromis, a firefish and a wrasse and they all are doing fine.

^^Need to know this to ensure a 29 gal QT can handle your bio-load. Is it just a clown and firefish you mentioned in your OP?
It's a clown, firefish goby and 2 bangaii Cardinals. I do plan on getting a tang but not until this is taken care of. Last time I had marine velvet the only thing that lived was my yellow tang.

That bio-load is fine in a 29 gal. Make sure you do water changes and/or have a working bio-filter on the QT to handle the ammonia.

Do you keep your QT running all the time or only set up when you get new fish

Unless I know I will be getting back to back batches of fish, I break it down and just set it back up as needed. It doesn't take long to do and so long as you always have a sponge or two seeding down in your DT's sump, you will always have a working bio-filter to use in QT:
