when putting fish in a QT tank(new fish) do I need to add any meds. or just observe them for a while? I was looking at copper and looks like the only brand I could find is Kordon products.

When I get a new fish, I just put them into a QT tank for observation for 2-3 weeks and if I don't see anything wrong they go into the display. Too many people seem to medicate right away which just adds to the stress that the fish is going through.

People who follow the observation option generally recommend a quarantine of 7 weeks or more. If you have tangs, it might be good to do the tank transfer method to be sure you don’t introduce ich.

Other people will medicate prophylactically. It takes less time but introduces another element of risk.

Both approaches have their benefits and risks.

I do the TTM to rid them of any ich. on day 5 and day 11, I dose Prazi Pro to flush out worms. After the 14 days then it depends on the fish type and where it came from as to how long it remains in QT
