i have a 30 gallon qt setup. I bought 2 triggers that are currently in the tank. Before I put them in the tank I had my lfs check parameters. They said they were perfect. I just checked 5 days later and ammonia is at 4ppm and nitrates at 0ppm. I treated with copper like they said. I am worried something is going to happen to my fish if I don't do something quick. Please help!!!

The increase in bio load would up the ammonia.

Yes, 4ppm is very high and toxic to fish. The Seachem ammonia alert badge I have on my QT has <0.02 as safe, 0.05 as alert, 0.2 as warn and 0.5 ppm as toxic.
I would measure again and anything over 0.25 ppm I would do an immediate water change. As Duke4Life indicated you will have to redose to take into account the water change.
What kind of filtration are you using? I used foam sponges in my HOB that were seeded in the sump if my DT to help with ammonia in my QT.

Copper will interfere with most liquid ammonia test kits (you will get false positives); although I believe Seachem's ammonia test kit still works with their copper product, Cupramine. The Seachem ammonia alert badge works in the presence of all medications.
