Should you dose copper first, or prazzi pro? Or both at the same time? My thing is my LFS most of the fish they get in, tangs in particular, and I know because I was the idiot that bought a tomini through it in the tank only for it do die, theres come in with parasites frequently mine included. I plan on getting a clown and then another tomini but what would you dose first in QT?

I would do copper first then prazi. But guess would depend if the fish comes with any symptoms. I wouldn’t do it together unless it’s an emergency.

What kind of parasites? If you are suspecting internal then should try to feed metro or GC as well.

The last tang I got had internal I may have a old photo of him before he died. Alot of these guys fish come in like this especially the tang. Is this common?

Here's the pic of the tomini that came from them.

He didnt make it. I bought him a month ago and he died in 3 days. Went to the store and 1/3 of the fish looked like this. Alright well it seems I'm getting mixed answers so I'll just dig into reading now! Thank you guys though.

The tang it that picture looks to have bacterial issues, most likely secondary to velvet, brook, or possible a whole host of other issues. If it were me... I’d be looking for a new LFS or possibly mail order, if the majority of the fish at your LFS look like this one [emoji20]

If I did bring that particular fish home- I’d have a freshwater dip waiting, followed by an acriflavine bath, and a QT that’s been pre-dosed with metroplex, kanaplex, and a low level of copper... and begin slowly raising to therapeutic over the next 48 hours. The freshwater dip would tell if he had flukes as well. If so, it would be necessary to replace the next metroplex dose with general cure. Same thing, 6 days later. With all of these meds... I’d have to add an extra air stone and maybe a second powerhead to ensure ample O2 exchange.

Even after all that...and that is a lot of meds to dump on a fish at once...there is a very good chance that fish would not survive.

Thank you for the detailed response, I know a general bit of QT as like mainly the diagnosis part cause I like to hang out in the what is this happening to my fish parts to lear but still a movie. Very rarly have I had a sick fish. I have 3 lfs stores near me and that one in particular me and my friend have spent a good money and a few fish from them and they just die or succumb to something. The other 2 are a bit better, one has a higher price on there fish and the other they treat for them in the holding tanks with copper and are upfront if they think the fish is having issues. But I hate that none of the lfs QT them selves. Wish I had a reputable one that was on top of the game instead of just pushing numbers.

The only spare tank I have is a 10 gallon for QT, is that okay if i do a clown fish and juvenile or adolescent tomini tang? Not at the same time. I also dont have a light for the tank.

The last tomini tang I saw was from the same lfs, even smaller then the one pictured and acted the same way as the one i bought and looked famished as well. So i dont think i will trust them again.
