I have experience keeping a few different SW tanks (10,55, 75, 15 g before). And I definitely learned my lesson with the 75 when I took a shop keepers word for the fish have already been treated and quarantined. Im also slightly impatient and wondered if this is a good idea. I want to set up another 55 maybe 75 tank for my father.

1) Keep a metal rack of 10, 10, and 20 gallon tanks in the house to be used for quarantine.
I would put a yellow tang in the 20 gallon, two clownfish in the 10 gallon, and hermits and snails in the other 10. Just filters and heaters for each.
2)Treat the tang and the clownfish with theraputic copper for 4-6 weeks? and let the inverts chill
3) Simultaneously setup the display tank, add some starter pure ammonia, and bacteria starter
4) Wait 4-6 weeks, monitor levels
5) do water changes,
6) Add fish

Does this sound right?

Sounds good! You can QT the fangs and clowns together. Might only need a invert and fish QT. Maintaining copper level in 1 vs 2 tanks is much easier! Make sure the QT has a good bio filter setup and ready to handle the fish load. QT during DT cycling is perfect!
