I’m planning on setting up a quarantine for our purple tang .
he developed white spots throughout the day .
In the same tank there is a large foxface , blue tang ( yellow belly ) and a juv emperor angel .
The yellow belly Blue tang picks on him so not sure if stress is the contributing factor .
My question .
if putting a purple tang in a 25gal quarantine to dose for suspected ich
Adding him back to the reef eventually will only start the introduction and aggression all over again .

is there a easier way to quarantine and reintroduce without causing more stress or aggression towards him ?

You can use an acclimation box when you're putting the purple tang back in. Have you thought about quarantining all the fish and running fallow? When you introduce them all back together that might cause every fish to re-establish territories. Might be a tight squeeze to quarantine all together so consider lots of hiding spots (PVC) if you do.

Your main tank has ich from what you've described. So in reality the best thing to do is quarantine all of your fish and leave your tank fishless for 76 days for ich to die off. Stress will not cause ich to appear if there is no ich in the system.

Like to ask quick question
What does ich look like and what does it do
Sorry if it’s a dumb question

Ich looks like small grains of sand or salt on a fish’s body. It severely weakens the fish immune system eventually leading to death if not treated.

Ideally no, you would get a bigger holding tank 40-55gals while the tank is running fallow. If you can’t get a holding tank, your best bet might be that 25 gallons, I would observe the other fish especially the blue tang to see if white spots start to show up.

I haven't had a disease in my DT in 2 years. I have a purple tang that was in QT for 50 days with no sign of any disease. I had UV running in the QT also. After a week in the DT I am noticing a few ICH like specks on it. Eating like a pig. Nobody else has the specks. UV is running, so is a diatom filter now. How can this happen? Possible it was dormant in my tank for 2 years? (Had a powder blue who died from ich 2 years ago).

Ich gets in the fishes gills, no way to see it! That's why treating all fish and anything you add to your tank ina QT is the only way to make sure you don't get ich in your system
