From what it says on their FAQ, it sounds like LiveAquaria pre-quarantines their fish. Does anyone know if this is true or if I should do a full quarantine or just an observation period without heavy medication? I ask because one of the fish that I am planning on ordering is a Ruby Longfin Fairy Wrasse and from everything I have read, wrasses can't tolerate high concentrations of copper. Also does anyone know if this guy will be ok in a 10 gallon QT without any sand during the QT/observation period?

I’ve bought from their Divers den SPECIFICALLY because of their strict QT. Not entirely sure about their main stock though. If you have the ability to QT I’d do it either way.

Only Divers Den fish are quarantined and even then sometimes things slip by their process, it is far from comprehensive.

DD is better than nothing, but there are plenty of members here who have received fish with parasites and diseases from DD.

On their FAQs on their main stock they say this about their quarantining process (at least for where I live): "Fish that are held and shipped from the California aquatic center are held for varying lengths of time depending on their origin, flight transit time, the species of fish (some take longer to adjust than others), their behavior, and finally their appearance. Fish that show any sign of damage or disease are transferred from acclimation into a dedicated treatment system so that antibiotics can be administered to combat their specific ailment. Once the fish are healed they are then transferred back onto the holding facility. All fish are offered for sale when they are eating properly and exhibiting normal behavior."

I think I'll put the fish I'm getting into my 10 gallon for a few weeks to observe them for any strange behavior or physical indicators that they might be sick or carrying any parasites and if they are I'll begin treating from there. My main concern is putting a wrasse into a tank with more copper than is healthy for it rather than putting it in slowly if it ends up needing it.

Quarantine everything from LADD. I can't tell you how many sick fish I've gotten from them. Actually I think they've gotten way worse over the years. A couple of years ago I never had many problems with them. Now I'm constantly getting sick fish from them. I set up a new tank earlier this year and lost several thousand of dollars worth of fish because I was lazy and didn't quarantine. Got a pair of clowns likely w/ Brooklynella and wiped everything out very quickly. Now I have 6 quarantine tanks because I'm quarantining everything. Other than a Gem tang and Zebra tang, I've gotten all my fish from Liveaquaria; most Diver's Den.

This is not totally true.. Yes divers den stuff is quarantined but all stuff from WI facility is quarantined. This includes clams, fish and coral.

Some of the stuff on LA non divers den stuff does ship from WI to.

WI seems to handle the LA stuff that is more sensitive.

Stuff from California facility and Florida are not.

Agreed everything should still be quarantined.

I would also bet things are about to change for LA and divers den with all the changes Petco is making and closing down Doctor Foster and Smith.
