Hey guys and girls

I have a 20 long qt tank with 2 fish in it right now a blue hippo tang and a copperband butterfly fish. Had them in there for 5 days now and just did a 50% water change. My problem is i tested for phosphates and nitrates and nitrates are zero but yet my phosphates are high.

I have a sponge filter with tetra air pump, a heater and some pvc hids.

How high is "high" for phosphates?
Fish dont typically care that much about phos but if you are looking for the source, test your water source. If you arent using rodi, you should bc if you have high phos, you are going to have algae issues. If you do use rodi, you should change your filters and test again? Also, What test did you use? Phos tests tend to be not so great

I use salifert tester for both phos and nitrates and it was more them 3.0 ppm

I was just curious so i tested for it and kinda freaked me out.

Yeah dont worry about it in the qt but if that's the same h20 as your display you are going to have issues.
