Quarintine tank help

I have a 10 gallon quarantine tank that I can't keep up. just a sand bed in display with a horrible "sump". A 12 gallon container with live rock, carbon, and return pump. I don't really want to invest much money in it. Should I just get a used biocube or something off CL?

I'm confused, are you saying your quarantine tank has a sand bed with a sump with live rock?

You don't need to get all fancy with a quarantine tank. A simple 10 gal tank with a hang on back filter and heater would suffice. Doesn't have to be set up all the time, just when you need it! (no rocks or sand)

I use a cheap 10 gallon tank with an hob filter, no sand and pvc pipe fittings for shelter. That way my quarantine tank can also be used as a hospital tank. And, I can tear it down and put it away in about 30 minutes when I don't need it.

Simple is better! Some people don't even use an HOB filter. Just a sponge and air stone.
If you need to quarantine a fish that needs a sand bottom, just put a bowl with sand in it inside the tank for them.

What if I wanted to make it a FOLR tank. What would be a better sump option then basically my bucket with a pump, heater, live rock, and light?

with my 75 i used to have I just had a 20 long with heater and HOB filter, worked fine. I just had this old tank running and wanted to use it for something. maybe give it to someone. ha

now it goes to crap even with regular water changes. new MH bulb as well

I never changed anything. great for a year, then crashed, replaced LR and sand, and never could get it going again
