quartz crystal&saltwater

Hello friends, i have a 150 and ive read that quartz no biggy and ive read its bad. what do you guys think?

Why is quartz bad? Most of the good UV's have them. Now the sleeve wiper cleaner on them are prone to rusting. Best to get one without that for salt.

im sorry i didnt mention. mines just a broken geode and its underneath my live-rock and other rocks.
the geode was about 5'' so its not a whole lot of the crystal.
