Quartz Sleeve- Randomly broken?

Had something a bit odd happen yesterday and wanted to see if anyone else has had it happen. I went to clean my Aqua Ultraviolet 25W UV Sterilizer and as I turned the cap I heard grinding glass. I got the cap off and the entire top was broken. The only thing holding it together was the rubber seal. Has anyone else had this happen before?

The seal looked fine, in fact when it broke the seal was still one piece when I pulled it out. Just shocked since I have never dropped it or anything. $60 bucks for a new sleeve lol.

Mine looked fine but when I bent it- cracks everywhere
