Queen Angel fin disease

So my mom got me my favorite fish of all time as a Christmas surprise. We placed him in my 75 gallon quarantine tank on Friday the 24th and he looked pretty clean. Since then however, he has started growing some white "stuff" on his fins. At first it was the right fin and tail but now it is on pretty much all of them. His body doesn't have anything anywhere though so I was pretty relieved that it didn't look like ich. Looking around the web it appears to be cauliflower. Can somebody verify my images and confirm or let me know if they think it something else? If I am correct, from what I read, then his immune system should handle it after several weeks to a month. Is there anything else I can do medication wise or treatment wise to assist? I want to do everything possible so that this little guy pulls through especially because of the sentimental value of the gift. He is swimming strongly and feeding very well and we are doing regular maintenance on the quarantine tank and parameters are normal. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You are correct. That is Lymph. A high quality, vitamin infused diet will be very helpful in clearing that up for you. That along with great water quality anyway. You can use vitamin supplements such as Selcon or Vitachem to soak in the food.

+1 Lympho doesn't usually become a problem unless it grows over a sensitive area exs. gills, mouth.

BTW Beautiful fish! Hope you have a large DT (180+ gallons) to put him in.

thanks to you both. he's eating dry algae and a mix of frozen foods. yes, large DT waiting for him.

BTW is lympho contagious? do i need to wait till its clear to transfer him?

It is contagious, but I wouldn't let that deter you from transferring him into the DT. Lymphocystis is rampant amongst SW fish.

It's viral so yes it's contagious. Think of it like a cold soar in humans. Most of us carry the virus but aren't bothered by it unless we get sick or our immune systems are compromised. It's similar to that in fish.

+1 Although I like to say "herpes" instead of "cold sore" just to freak people out.

How long are you planning to QT ? I love that you have your beautiful new fish in QT. Be prepared for a stinker of a fish, with lots of personality. I love mine but she is a stinker now. Bit of a bully, nips at everything! Begs all the time. Does not like carbon in my tank. But she farts when you startle her, so my boys love her.

Yup lymph, queen seem especially affected by it. It generally goes away on its own with good water quality and good diet/vitamins

Are there times when it doesn't clear up at all? Or do you pretty much all fish eventually get rid of it? I'm hesitant to put him in the DT because none of my other fish I've ever shown any signs of it and I would hate to get them infected. But if you recommend it, i will

planned 30 days . has great personality and begs for food as well. allows himself to be hand carried!

IME; When the fish is young it will almost always clear up. Now, this can take weeks or even months depending upon the overall health of the fish. Basically, it's up to the immune system to get the virus under control.

As the years go on, you may notice occasional flareups. This typically happens when the fish gets stressed - rapid temperature fluctuation, fighting with another fish, the fish gets moved into QT or a different aquarium, stuff like that.

In at least two cases I've seen the Lympho nodules spread out of control to where they completely covered the gills & mouth, and the fish died. This happened to a Queen & Scribbled Angel of mine, and both were close to 15 years old. So, my guess is their immune system weakened as they aged and this allowed the virus to finally take hold.
