So yesterday I learned Petco is pretty clueless. This got sold as a candy cane coral. Obviously it isn’t. If anyone has any clue what kind it is and where the best place to stick it in the tank would be. I have a 40 gallon breeder and will post a couple pics to follow. Thanks.

t
Bubble tip anemone. It'll walk around and find a spot where it likes on its own.
Thank you. I was so confused why it moved from last night. It made no sense to me because it didn’t look like a coral full bore. Definitely explains it now. Thanks again

One more quick question, I’ve had my wife turn off the wave so it could find a place to chill. Any ideas how long she should leave it off?

Tough question really. If you leave the powerhead off and it settles it may decide to move after you turn it back on. I would add a nem gaurd to the powerhead either way untill it settles long term.
Will do. I unfortunately won’t be back home until Sunday night from the navy but I’ll take care of it then and just have her leave it off so it doesn’t get too curious. Thanks

I just want to know who looked at that anemone and said, "You know what, that is a nice candy cane coral".

You just learned yesterday that Petco is clueless? Just kidding. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

I think what's more important is how much you paid for said candy cane. If only a few bucks then you got a deal, if more than a typical green BTA. then you got the short end of the deal.

I will find out for sure. Not too happy. I wanted an anemone but not entirely this quick lol.

Looks like we made out $15 to the good.

Any recommendations on if we should spot feed him? 1st bottle of copepods was added 9/15. 2nd bottle on 10/3. I dose twice a week with phyto.

I would turn the wave maker back on after he attached to the rock structure. Otherwise, he likely moves after your turn the waves back on.
Small BTA like this do not feed on phytoplankton, but eats small bits of seafood, or mysis and the like.
