Does this go in my sump or can it be outside of the sump like an hob? Any more info/insight would be appreciated! Thanks!

Have the same one. I plumbed it to my return pump and mounted it to my stand. I would think it could go in your sump.

P.S. I would get the soft tubing upgrade. The white that comes with it is not very flexible.

What do you mean plumbed it into your return pump? I think mine only has one output
