So let me start off by saying we have a custom 800 gallon wall tank and my little girl wants to add a cat shark
We are getting a egg so she can watch it grow can i hatch the egg in her 28 gallon bio cube and keep it in there
For 1-2 weeks to make sure it is healthy and eating well before we put it in the big tank
Or should I just hatch him in the big tank
Thanks
Matt

Hatch him in the big tank the less stress you cause it the better the survival rater.

When they are in the egg they have a sack attached to them that they feed off. When they hatch they will have that for about a week still feeding off it.
What other fish do u have they will need food on the sand bed and they go mainly off smell so it can't be moving around to fast.

Best of luck to u and very jealous of ur 800 gallon tank

We have a large angel, about 20 clowns, 7 tangs, 1 lion, 1 ray, about 15 damsels will they all do ok with the cat shark

I personally have hatched a few of these and happen to disagree with hatching it in the 800. The issue you are going to run into is that the shark will just be learning how to catch its own food (live ghost shrimp). One of the most difficult parts of hatching these guys is getting them to start eating. This being said, if you release a bunch of ghost shrimp into a large tank that means they have a large area to hide in and thus making it more difficult for the baby cat shark to find them. At this point your going to realize you need to get him out and put him in the 30g, good luck with catching it in a 800g system.

Just my 2 cents
