My tank is about 4 months old and when i first set it up I bought a couple of peices of life rock covered in purple coralline algea. I ran the tank dark till about a week and half ago when I installed my ai hydra 32. I just noticed that the coralline seems to have this pale whittish film or look to it. Is this because it’s dying off pr does coralline do this sometimes. My parameters are as follows:
Temp: 77.8
Ammonia and nitrite:0
Nitrate: 6.7
Salinity:35ppm
Alk. 9.8 dkh
Calcium 544
i use coral pro and just realized that I forgot to clean the bucket that i use to make my saltwater before using it as my top off. Thats my theory why my calcium is so high. I don’t currently own a magnesium test kit. I’ve turned my lights down a little because I was worried that tge lights are to intense. No coral or fish currently just hermit crabs and a trochus snail

any insight or ideas why my coralline is doing this will be much appreciated it’s driving me crazy because I wss to grow more if it and put corals in once my calcium comes down which i will do by cleaning out the container i am using for my top off water.

Yes as coraline needs light-flow-calcium. With your CA readings, given time and light - it will return
