Question about dosing Alk & cal in Biocube 32

Alk stays around 6DKH or 170 mg/l calcium 280
nitrate 0, phosphate 0,

I recently purchased a Maxima clam, small 2" . I want to make sure it has what it needs.

Stock LED lighting.

Get an auto doser. It’s the easiest way.
Dose a two part. I’d reccomend ESV to start.
Test alk only a few days for a week and see what the trend is.

Dose I ml each per day to start.
Slowly Increase one mil once a week till you get the target alk

Way to low. You need to dose. Lighting is also inadequate.

IMO, you need to get both DKH (up near 8) and Calcium up (to around 425) to support a clam or much else. Also question your test results. Assuming that your corals have been there awhile, they look quite healthy. They shouldn't with those measurements so the first thing I would do is check to make sure they are correct. If they are then there are numerous methods for raising those numbers the most popular being 2 part.

The stock lighting on the biocube isn't enough for a maxima clam even if it's placed near the surface. It will slowly die or maybe quickly. If you want to keep it either upgrade to something like steves leds or wrip the hood off and go with at least a hydra 26hd.
