So I am now at the point that regular water changes will not keep up with the amount trace elements my tank and coral are using up. I have the Red Sea Foundation ABC pack and started yesterday. After a water change I tested my water and Calcium was 385, KH was 8 and Magnesium was 1260.
I want to bring the Calcium and Magnesium up slowly and started yesterday with a small dose. My tank is a little under 50 gallons and the instructions say 1ml of each for 25 gallons, so I added 2ml of each one. I tested the water again today and the Calcium went up to 400, but KH and Magnesium were still the same. Is this normal? I want to try to get the numbers up evenly without throwing things out of whack

Please don't quote me on this, but don't when you dose one it will raise another? I have RS ABC as well and so far I only does Alk as that seems to be the only thing that changes... probably testing wrong. But I felt when I was reading the instructions that when you dose parameter A parameter B will change so you have to dose in a specific order and test in between each one.

If you have separate additives for calcium and alkalinity, that's not going to happen. You can add in any order and it only boosts the one.

i think Red Sea Foundation ABC+ is a powder mix that does it all, but it is not a solution and cannot be made into one (as best I can tell).

Since this is a bit older, how is it going?

Thanks, I must have misread the instructions... or misunderstood... science is hard ;Bookworm

Good I think. Kept adding all three parts like the instructions said. Calcium and Magnesium both went up and Alk held pretty consistant. Hoping this was do to the small amounts I was adding and not a problem with my test kit. With everything going on, I haven't made it to my LFS to try another kit
