I recently started feeding rods food to my tank. I was maintaining 0 nitrates and now I'm at about 4ppm. I am mixing reef chili (about 2 spoon fulls) with a small chunk of rods food a day. I'm also dosing 1ml of Lps amino acid a day, and pohls coral vitalizer a day about 6 drops. Before I was just feeding flakes and feeding frozen meat blend I got from petco every other day. This is on a 75 gallon tank. My question how often do you feed and any recommendations on how much I should feed.

This is everything I have in the tank
Livestock
Two ocellaris clownfish, one Orange the other black and white
Purple firefish
Neon dotty back
Lavender tang
Peppermint shrimp
Emerald crab
Margarita snails, large narcissus snails, trochus snail, blue hermits and red hermits.

Corals
Green birdsnest, green Duncan, "moving" Duncan, 2 different favias, blastomussa, hammer, torch, frogspawn and a brain coral.

My phosphate is also .04 ppm.

I have done flakes in the past. They were ocean nutrition and had no problems, I just like pellets more. Now I'm using new life spectrum marine blend and when my niece comes over we chop up nori into flakes.

I've heard great stuff about reef chili, reef roids... If it's anything like powder cyclopezz be careful you can overfeed. I don't know how big of spoon it came with but like always less is better.

In the pic is what I feed 1x a day... If I'm feeding corals and throwing frozen shrimp in for everyone I will feed less or not at all on the next day.

a few things.... Are you spot feeding corals, and are you leaving pumps on or off? For my Duncan I'll hit as many heads as I can then I take a DIY dome made out of a CD case and let him sit inside for about 10 min... No one takes food and it doesn't go all over the tank as much.

I used to spot feed everyday/every other day... and niTRATE will start to go up along with my Vermited snail population. Now I do it 2-3 times a week for my Duncan and plate corals.

My next experiment is feeding slightly heavy everyother day. I don't know if I will due to small amounts everyday working well for me

I would limit the reef chili to 2-3 feeding per week,(ideally one a few hours before a water change) if you are feeding the original rods food blend there is plenty of small particle foods in that mix to feed your corals on the days that you aren't feeding chili.

Ya I was thinking about limiting all of my food for a while like really cutting back until my nitrates drop then spacing out my feedings to like 2 or 3 times a week
