can anyone that runs a geo calcium reactor chime in please. What does everyone run there ph at in them and also drip rate of effluent at that ph.NOW I KNOW THERE WAS ALSO ANOTHER THREAD JUST LIKE THIS BUT THIS IS FOR GEO OWNERS ONLY PLEASE.The reason being here is because I have heard alot of people running there effluent drip rate at a high rate(like just short of a steady stream)with there ph around 6.6-6.8 in there GEO's.And then I hear of other people say slow drip on the effluent and 6.4-6.6 ph in theres.Which would be better? What is the benefit of the steady stream over drip?anyhow sorry for asking a question thats probally been asked a million time but hey I had to ask.
Thanks

I don't have the 618 but the one below that. I run it in the 6.6-6.7 range with the effluent just dialed back from a steady stream. I had it at like 2 drops per second on the effluent but my sloenoid on my PH controller was turning on and off too often. For me it just seemed to be where it dialed in and the Calcium stayed steady in my tank. I know the type of media in the reactor will also determine what you run the reactor ph at also. You can go lower with larger media. If you have the fine media and run it too low it can turn to mush.

If you run a more steady stream it tends to be more reliable without getting clogged. I run about 6.55 -6.6 with just short of a steady stream. I once did the lower pH and 50-60ml / min but kept getting clogged. Seem to have better luck now. Its always a test.

I have a 618 and a 612. I run just short of a steady stream (about 55 ml/min) at about 6.6 on the controller.

To me it really doensn't make much difference if you run a slow stream or fast with whatever pH setting you want: are you reaching your alkalinity goal?

I find it easier to keep a constant bubble (60-80/minute) and effluent (about 55 ml/min) rate, and tweak the pH controller setting up or down a bit depending on my target KH.

Definitily get yourself a USPlastics needle valve and pitch the stock one.

SMC Needle Valves | U.S. Plastic Corp.

These are much easier to use and more precise at a nice price point.

Def. get the needle valve!!! I just added one to my reactor and it's SOOOOOO much easier to dial in.

side note...i run my geo 618 at a 6.6 ph in the reactor and drip about 2 drops per second. I need to check my calc and alk, but i'm sooooo busy with work that when I get home i literally just fall asleep! I hate working retail during xmas season!
