Ok everyone. My cousin who lives in Ohio just went down to Florida to visit. She said she was more than willing to bring me home some corals, reef, and/or plants. Question is....how long will they survive in a foam cooler of ocean water in a car?? Or how could/should she ship them to me from there??? Any input??

It will be less than that. But I'm worried it will not make it. I mean it's worth a shot at least. But anyone on the east coast?? Lol

Last year, went to Florida for the weekend for a business trip. On the way back, I stopped at some places, bought and packed things up in coolers. It was a 14 hour drive. Things were fine.

Ahhhh so it should be fine than!!! Yay!!! Thanks for the info!!! Did u just leave them in the salt water in the cooler or how did u pack them for transport?

They were packed for transport. Are you asking if the coolers were filled with SW and then transported with the items inside? If it's plants, it would be fine. Corals...doable. I wouldn't do it for fish.
Although, if I remember one of the rocks was placed in bags and filled with water. It did have some gsp and a group of palys growing on it.

I can't find the thread right now but remember reading about someone driving over 1,000 miles to get a clam and had portable air pumps and a bunch of other things for transport

Oh they're doing it by law. Her Nd her ex husband did it all the time but she is remarried and taking new hubby. I just don't know how to transport from Ohio to michigan and I can't take her stuff from her lol
