Question about lineage

When ppl buy colorado sunburst anenomes for example what linage are u expecting and what qualifies as proof said anenome is legit? These are really high prices and nerve racking making sure the right choice is made

The best you can hope for is a solid photo of the one you are getting. Compare it to other photos, readily available online, to verify it is the same or very similar to other CSBA. You will not get a "lineage" chart, family tree, or otherwise.

Why does everyone ask for lineage? I assume ppl can say anything! I have read that a marble foot and the colors of tips are ways to insure the nem is legit but iv also read these things are false

You're looking to buy a certain anemone, and you're wondering if it's the real thing? Have you asked where the seller got it?

Yes I asked but iv read several places ppl saying lineage matters so is word of mouth all ppl mean

It's possible that there would be a chain of custody. It would take receipts. If you bought a 500$ anemone (or whatever this thing is; I have no idea), you would have a receipt. And the person you bought it from would have a receipt when they themselves bought it.

So you would have to ask the store where they bought it, and if they had record of it. Impossible for common stuff. Might be a tall order for some stuff. Really expensive stuff, it should be possible. For example, if you bought a captive bred conspic angel, you would have a receipt.

Iv read there's alot of fake colorado sunbursts nems and at $700 -$1200 that's a steep chunk of money to spend if something isn't what it's supposed to be

For sure. If they're that expensive, I would require proof, or I wouldn't play that game. Someone selling something that expensive should be able to show you where they got it, and if they can't, then how can they justify asking that much. Just my opinion, of course.

There is no way to guarantee lineage since there are no certificate of authenticity or birth certificates. So you just have to choose to take someone word or not. A gamble.

It's really really hard to determine the truth. If I were you, I would find a seller with CSBs then research that seller. If they're selling fake CSBs I'm sure someone would eventually figure it out and post about it. Also, like mentioned above, picture comparisons are very important. Real CSB sellers should know the "phase" of their nem (red phase, yellow phase, etc) so you can photo reference more accurately. Looking at it in person is always the best way to check, that way you know nothing is photoshopped to make it look more like a real CSB but if you have to buy online, ask for new photos (size reference against a white frag plug for example) to see the size and color of it. If the reference object doesn't look right (has a weird color, shape, etc) then you know they're photoshopping. I also reverse image search the pic they post, just to make sure they didn't just lift it off google and are trying to act like that's the nem they're selling. Good luck!

Hi and sorry to join late. Not a csb expert but I must admit that I see top hi end retailers selling what looks to me like fake black widows....I could be wrong.
