Question about metal temperature probe..

Amazon is currently running a lightning deal on the Inkbird WiFi ITC-308 Digital Temperature Controller. For $35, it's a pretty good deal, and $18 cheaper than the "aquarium" version. The major differences is one metal probe vs two plastic ones. One reviewer put the probe in a plastic bag, and in a forum post here on R2R suggested coating the probe in plasti-dip. My questions is if one were to go that route, would it affect the probes ability to accurately read the temperature? And if so, is it something that a simple re-calibration could fix. Would something like a conformal coating or acrylic or silicone work better?

I have two of the Inkbird metal probes and neither one has shown any signs of corrosion after several years. I keep the "top" above the water. Plastic dip or something simular wouldn't hurt though.

Awesome, thanks for such a quick response! Its great they've lasted so long for you. I think I'll pull the trigger in that case.
