Here are a couple pictures of my green and purple acan.
My question is, do the polyps typically get this big? I have orange and green acans next to it and there are 5 polyps on that one that don't get big like my green and purple one and they produce more polyps. The green and purple one hasn't grown any other polyps but since I got it, they have expanded and gotten HUGE! Maybe I'm a noob and haven't done enough research but the polyp in the picture is literally bigger than a ping pong ball. It's been in my tank

Big, inflated = happy, generally. Be happy also. No two separate corals, even from the exact same mother colony, will necessarily act the same.

There could be a difference in the skeletal structure too, which could cause one to grow more polyps than the other. Acan's skeletal structure grows slowly, so just give it time.

I have a green and purple single polyp acan that is almost identical to yours. I had it at the very edge of my tank and it had polyp extension like yours. It started losing some of the purple color so I moved it closer to the center and the color came back in a couple of weeks. It will still get big once in a while the day after I feed it. I dont know enough to say that is the same issue with yours, just offering my experience.

Ive seen larger and a good sign of health and feeding response. be proud of beautiful specimens such as these
