Question about my skimmer

So I’ve got a 125 gallon tank with a 40 gallon sump. It’s got a coralvue reef octopus skimmer.

I can’t get it to stop overflowing and foaming

Any suggestions?

I’m new to saltwater.

Is the skimmer submerged to the correct water level? How long has it been running for?

Yes I believe it is from what I can find online and about three weeks
