I am currently plumbing my sump and need to use this flex hose so I can remove filter sock when needed.
The end of this hose fits snug into a 1” schedule 40 pvc fitting. Can I glue this end or is the snug fitting good enough? The end of this pipe is def. not schedule 40. TYIA

For me it depends where it is. I've left snug fits unglued and everything has been okay.
But, if that's your main siphon from the display I would feel better if it's glued.
Just my opinion :)

Many people will tell you to glue everything and add unions for your disconnects and that is probably good advice. Candidly I have multiple tanks that I have the hose attached with a snug fit.

Cool I may just do a snug fit with this hose since it is going into a gate valve. As I said it is a snug fit and just wanted confirmation to see if anybody else was doing it this way. Now I just need my red pipe to come in. I plumbed with white to get it right before I cut up the red pipe.

I’ve done it that way before. It’s not ideal and those hoses have a tendency to become brittle and split So you might want to replace it every few years.

Gotcha. Only thing is the flexible part of hose will be inserted into hard pipe so clamp will have no effect on pipe.

I would try to glue it. If that did not work I would try my hardest to get a piece of hose over both ends & glue that.

No need for glue. Heat up the end of hose and push it onto/over pipe, instead of into fitting.

I ended up gluing it with the glue it held so I’m not worried that it’s gonna slip off now because it was a little loose in the gate valve

I think the important question to ask is, What will happen if the hose disconnects? For example, if it's just going to flow into the sump, who cares? If it's going to flow onto the floor do a quick calculation of the possible damage. I think it's also important to consider not will this hold in the best possible scenario where I have taken the time to insert it snugly BUT will it hold under the worst possible situation when I have accidently pulled on it doing related maintenanca or inserted it quickly before I'm late for work.

Yes there would be some water damage and as I said it fit snug into an elbow but it was not as snug in the gate valve so I glued it, now I don’t have to worry about it falling out
