i just set up a 125g that has a one inch bulkhead with barb at the end. What do you guys use to connect that end to a pipe?
I replace and go hard pipe. But if that’s not an option then people use flexible pvc pipe and a plastic hose clamp.

Im sorry replace wih what? Take out the bulkhead ?
Yes. Remove the bulkhead and replace with new bulkhead and hard pipe all the way to the sump. This was just my first reaction opinion to your post.Im sorry replace wih what? Take out the bulkhead ?
Some of the mass market tank overflow kits come with bulkheads that have an integrated hose barb. I don't personally like them because the hose barb is a restriction point for flow, but if that is not a problem in your system, then they work just fine. Flex PVC will not fit over them, you need to use the correct diameter vinyl or silicone hose plus a band clamp.
