So I’m wanting to populate my tank with pods from algaebarn.com. My question is do I need a refugium or is the live rock and sand enough for them to flourish? The tank is a 20 gallon IM Nuvo Fusion. Currently I have a single clown, algae blenny, and 6 snails. I’m running chemi-pure Elite and carbon in the left chamber and a filter sock with seachem matrix in the right chamber.

They’ll be fine without a refugium. If you had several pod-eating fish then it would be tough for the pods to reproduce fast enough without the safety of a refugium, but your fish will probably leave them alone.

2 Things.
Your fish will eat them. If they can hide and have enough algae film to eat then they might be ok.
The filter sock will trap a lot of them.
