So I am going use some of this polyfill in my set up I feel there is something in my tank that is bothering my zoas, not sure what but possibly from a magnet (metals). Long story short my apex ATK bracket exploded and the magnet was rusting in my tank for prob along time. Only reason I knew about the issue was that one of my sensors went bad prompting me to replace the sensor than I saw what happened. Anyways I am going use the polyfill and see what happen, 90% of my tank is thriving for the most part but some things just look like something is bothering them, I have ruled out chemistry and pests. My question is will polyfill actually take out the metals or contaminents for good. Or is this a product I have to continue to use all the time. I understand it changed colors based on what It pulls out, do I just continue to use it till I get no color exchange?

Poly Bio Marines poly-filter will remove heavy metals from water caused by rusting magnets, I had similar issue recently and adding a poly-filter along with doing several water changes helped my tank.. the poly filter turned a reddish orange as it absorbed contaminants.

Gotcha thanks, yeah it's the only thing I can think of in what's happening. You know what weird though so I spoke with Neptune and they told me there would be no adverse effect from the rusting magnet since it's essentially GFO....I don't know how true that is I think it's a bit different

My tank was crashing because of rust.. everything except leathers looked terrible, my LPS corals where not inflating and suffering from tissue recession, bleaching and no feeding response also my coralline was dying off. I had checked all parameters multiple times, did water changes, added fresh carbon and checked everything including looking for rusting magnets with no improvement.. finally I found the degrading magnet and after removing it from system, doing additional water changes and adding a poly-filter my tank almost immediately turned around and within a week or so it was almost back to normal.. I kept running poly-filters for several weeks until they stopped turning Red/Orange indicating contaminants where no longer in my water.
