I'm about three weeks into cycling my 7 gallon nano. I had to pull all but one piece of live rock after the first day due to aptasia. My new lighting (Kessil A80) and filter (TUNZE comline nano).

I would like to set up a QT with the cheap LED light and HOB filter that came as part of my package deal. I have no idea what the spectrum of my light. I know I QT fish this way, but I would like to get a few hardy corals like some zoanthids, toadstool leather, maybe a green tree leather and go ahead and dip them and QT for a few weeks while I'm waiting to add to my main tank.

Would this type of corals suffer under the cheap LED light for a few weeks? Here is picture of my tank at first set up, and a picture of the "kit" I started with.

Nah, corals can survive just fine under poor lighting. Reefs aren't always sunny. Don't expect great growth or color, but they should survive just fine.

Thanks for the response, I really want to do this little set up the right way and exercise patience. My last reed was a 55g and it took me well over a year to get it stable, without pests, I lost fish and corals along the way.

I'll be sticking to mostly softies, a few LPS (Duncan and frogspawn).
