So I know the suggestion usually is to treat with copper for either 30 days or 14 then transfer to a sterile tank to prevent ich or velvet. This is either concurrent with or in line with prazipro and metro+focus.

I dont have a second sterile qt to transfer to but am nervous of keeping all fish in copper for 30 days as I know it could be hard on the fish. What if I do an observation period first, 2 doses of prazi, then ramp up copper for 2 weeks and transfer to the DT which was run fallow in the past so should be considered sterile from parasites?

Was thinking if they look healthy to begin with than the treatment is purely preventative. The idea of observation post treatment is to see if disease returns but if they never had signs appear during initial observation and preventative treatment there wouldn't be a need to observe post treatment correct?

you will get a lot of different opinions some people watch and observe some people preventatively treat their fish. I treated my fish with metro for 10 days then 2 doses of prazi pro and monitored them i decided not to use copper and it works for me. if you know what to look for and can devote a little time per day to monitor them for 30 days or so then not treating with copper can work

I only use copper when there is a reason to do so.
Its short and long term effects on fish is not worth it, unless they are clearly sick.
Now, while in QT they develop something, then sure. But I stop it 7 days after the fish has recovered.
