Hi
I moved my tank last week and it crashed. I'm going to redo everything and was wondering what should i do with the rock. Should i just soak it for a couple days in some water or should I bleach it or just let it dry out. It was originally dry rock which had been in my tank for about 2 years.
Thanks

Did anything survive the crash? If so maybe a good soak in saltwater using a powerhead to keep the bacteria going.
If nothing survived then maybe go thru a full cycle. So bleach the rock and start form scratch.

agreed, a crash will actually increase bacteria not lower it because a crash is signified by an ammonia event, which the bac feed on. it will cause a spike in communities then natural controls w put them right back into steady state soon after.

I would only reboot the tank if its wrecked with algae, before the crash. Also, we want to know what caused the crash and if an old sandbed was in place during the move, we have a large thread on preventing tank crashes during moves and the hindsight on yours would help others to document

if the rocks have no algae or invasion issues, they're as good as they were before the crash, just rinse em off and start again depending

got any pics of the rock
