Question about Red Sea Pro Nitrate Kit

I bought a Red Sea Nitrate Pro test kit to test my nitrates. I had a Salifert but wanted to test with another kit for a comparison. When I tested with the Red Sea Pro kit I am a darker color than the darkest color on their card. How can I figure out what ppm my nitrates are at? It is a dark redish/pinkish color. The card goes up to 4ppm.

Doest really matter if its darker or lighter, for as long as it totally change color to redish pinkish the stayed that way for 10sec that's your reading. I got the same problem with this new kit. I had the old kit that has similar color as the card. I think they using new color but forgot to change the color in the card. Hope it helps.

Do you still have the Salifert kit to crosscheck if shows over 4ppm to?

pretty sure its 15ml ro/di and 1ml tank water for the high range test.

To get a reading of higher than 4 ppm using red sea, you'll have to use 15 ml of rodi water and 1 ml tank water for the high range. Using 16 ml is usually only for low low range readings. Hope this helps

As @reefluvrr posted with a picture, test using the high range test. 1 ml tank water and 15 RO/Di and run the test the same amounts of A, B, C and times and you will get the high side reading. Use the wheel to match the colors

Though my tank is mainly sps and few LPS, they seem to do fine between 2-5 ppm

Mine just tested over 4ppm low range, and between 32-64 ppm high range.

Low range seems right, but the high range don't seem correct. It should be a lighter color on the high range if the low range is reading over 4 ppm. Unless your nitrates really are that high then i suggest doing a large water change or more frequent small ones to help lower it. BTW I would suggest getting a salifert kit instead bc it's alot easier to do and get faster readings.
