Ive been running this pump externaly since ive gotten it and now I want to run it in my sump. Has anyone had any experience running it like this?

I believe that it was meant to run in sump. That it would actually work better for you running it that way, would have less draw on the motor not having to pull the water that far.

Well it's a recirculating skimmer so it has a powerhead pushing water in. Does it matter what the water level it is in? Or does it not matter because it's a recirculating

Yes, a feed pump is required to run the skimmer. Not to utilize the recirc pump as the main supply.
Specifications:

* Allows the user to input the exact amount of water desired to be skimmed.
* Requires a feed pump or plumbed from an overflow to inject water into skimmer.
* Internal or External use.
* Modified funnel neck design with bubble plate diffuser.
* Rating: Up to 125 gallons.
* Diameter: 4"
* Dimensions: 11″ x 8.75″ x 23″
* New pinwheel impeller increases the performance by 30%.
