I have a 7 month old reef with 3 fish, corals and inverts up and running...
I got some rock yesterday from a girl on Craigslist who just broke down her tank supposedly the day before due to a move. The rock was in water in a bucket but for some reason she poured it out right in the parking lot right before I got there (I could see it). That part baffles me really. She claimed it was in fresh salt water but I cannot confirm so I just put it in a tub with a powerhead and some salt water I mixed from the night before.
Should I treat it like uncured rock and cycle it in that tub? If she was telling the truth and its fully cured rock that had only been out of the water a short time before I picked it up, maybe it only needs a short time in the tub before going into the display?
What would you do? The rock isnt super showy but does have coraline on it in spots that is not dead/dying and there was a peanut worm coming out from one of the holes last night when I flash light checked it.
