Hey everyone. Hope everyone is having a good day. I have some rock that use to be LR that I didn't use a few years ago. Still looks good and I want to use it now. I am completely starting over my tank so I do not wanna introduce anything that is not suppose to be there. With it being dry rock now, is there a step I need to do before I add it to the tank? I've searched the forum but cannot really find anything on it.

Rock I am using in the complete start over is the Caribsea Life Rock Shapes.

You need to “cure” the dry rock. It’s a process. No fun. I’m no expert so I won’t provide you steps but I recommend you look it up. Welcome back to the hobby :)

It looks pretty white and clean. Walk on the wild side. Just put it in and cycle it ;Vamp

That rock could have come from a tank with very high phosphorous, even if it looks clean and has been dry for so long that no pests or bacteria are alive. You should still cure it for at least three months with bi-weekly 80% water changes. Don't take shortcuts ;Dead (can't find angel emoji)

Question. Should I cure the Caribsea Life Rock Shapes as well or safe to put it in since its man made? Still have to cycle the tank.

You will be able to put the Caribsea Life Rock right into the tank so long as it is new and not used in another tank.
