Question about setting up "sterile" QT after treatments

If I use HOB sponges/media that has been seeding in my DT, where presumably the prazi resistant flukes exist in my case or Ich or whatever, aren't I just transferring that into a "sterile" QT when I move them over to set up the sterile tank for use right after treatment. It would just re-infect the newly treated fish, correct?

The sponges/media would have to sit fallow for six week, 76 days or whatever based on the infestation before using the media in a sterile situation or am I missing something?

Yes, if your DT has Prazi resistant flukes then it would no longer be a sterile QT. Using DT sponges works in the beginning even if the parasite is present because they are used pre-treatment and the treatment kills the parasites in the sponges.
When transferring to a sterile QT you should use new sponges and biospira unless you know your DT has no disease then it would be ok to use those sponges.
I do that when QT’ing new fish and I know my DT is disease free.
While your fish are in QT the tank going fallow is what eliminates the parasite from your DT (excluding Uronema).

Yes, I let the sponge float in the new qt and pour the biospira through it into the tank. Then I place it in the hob or pin it down in the corner of the tank

I soak the HOB foam pad, HOB mesh bag filled with BioMax, and a bubble foam filter foam all in either my DT which is clean and disease free for 30 days min. OR I soak in either Seachem Stability (my current fav.) or BioSpira for at least 24 hours and then pour the leftover liquid into the QT. It's amazing how well this works. Depending on bio-load, I often don't have to do any water changes other than siphoning the bottom of the QT for debris.
